Historic Gramercy Restaurant Relies on Helpern’s Agency Expertise

Helpern Architects has been working with the owners of historic Pete’s Tavern, a five-story building near Gramercy Park, to meet the city’s new post-COVID restaurant requirements.

In 1864, Pete’s predecessor started to sell “groceries and grog” in the building, which makes it the oldest continuously operating tavern in New York City, used often as an “authentic” set for movies and TV shows.

Pete’s current owners have used Helpern Architects for total facilities assessments, improvements, and this spring, updates to the establishment’s sidewalk and roadway café applications to city agencies as they pertain to Pete’s popular outdoor facilities.
