A Senior Associate since 2013, Betty McClure arrived at Helpern Architects in 2012 with a rich history of high-profile institutional, residential, and commercial projects across the United States, from building core to exterior enclosure.
Betty’s broad portfolio of work often centers on renovation and restoration, such as the ongoing façade and cast iron base of Con Edison’s landmarked headquarters, including replacing 2500 windows. She was responsible for the renovation and expansion of Fort Washington Collegiate Church in upper Manhattan.
Other institutional projects to benefit from her involvement include Yale University’s Betts House, Fordham University’s off-campus One Fordham Plaza offices for the use of the university’s IT group, and Blanton-Peale Institute’s new offices. She was the Senior Designer and Project Manager for Hope Senior Housing in the Bronx, and has been part of the modernization team for Fountain Heights Senior Housing in New Haven, Connecticut. She is the Project Architect for the final phase of New Utrecht High School’s expansion, which was interrupted by COVID.
A member of the American Institute of Architects, Betty holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. She is LEED-accredited by the US Green Building Council.
